Before you book

What you actually need to know about ACHEMA.

ACHEMA is the triennial mega-show for the process industry — chemical, pharma and biotech engineering — at Messe Frankfurt, drawing a genuinely global exhibitor base (56 countries in 2024) for a show that only happens once every three years.

Traffic & timing

With only one edition every three years (next after this: 2030), ACHEMA compresses demand most fairs spread across several editions — 106,001 participants came from 141 countries in 2024, but unlike an annual show, there's no 'catch them next year' fallback if your stand isn't ready or your best people aren't on the floor for all five days.

Key deadlines

Plan backwards from move-in.

Construction permit threshold

Single-storey stands under 100m² at 4m height or less, with no special features, don't need separate construction approval — anything bigger, taller or two-storey needs sign-off through the Exhibitor Portal, which opens autumn 2026.

Stand position pricing

Budget for position, not just size: a corner or island stand (2+ open sides) carries a 40% surcharge over the €378/m² standard rate — lock in your preferred position early, since it directly changes the m² price.

No exhibitor-owned forklifts

Exhibitors' own forklifts are prohibited on safety grounds for setup and dismantling — only electric pallet trucks are allowed for ground-level moves, so book Messe Frankfurt's own forklift service for anything heavier well ahead of move-in.

Watch-outs

Messe Frankfurt, not a generic hall.

Height caps depend on your footprint, not just the hall

Stands under 30m² are capped at 4m regardless of hall — a design assuming ACHEMA's general 8m ceiling allowance will get flagged if the footprint is small.

Cradle to Cradle carpeting is mandatory in aisles

Since 2022, aisle carpeting must be Cradle to Cradle® Bronze certified for recyclability — this isn't a suggestion, it's been standard practice for two editions running, alongside exclusively green electricity and LED-only lighting through the exhibitor portal.

No forklifts of your own

Bringing your own forklift for setup or dismantling isn't allowed — only electric pallet trucks for ground-level transport, so heavier lifts have to go through Messe Frankfurt's own service, which needs booking, not just showing up with equipment.

Three years between editions changes the storage math

A stand with no storage or reuse plan gets rebuilt from scratch for 2030 — with a 90%+ recycling-rate target already in place venue-wide, a structure built for reuse isn't just cheaper, it's more aligned with where ACHEMA's own sustainability rules are heading.

[PLACEHOLDER] Torralta Process Systems — A 2-storey structure engineered for reuse, not rebuild

[PLACEHOLDER] Torralta Process Systems

A 2-storey structure engineered for reuse, not rebuild

Torralta's previous ACHEMA stand was scrapped after one use. We designed a steel-and-timber structure that clears the two-storey construction-permit process, uses Cradle to Cradle-certified flooring, and is specified for storage and reassembly at the next edition.

One structure, engineered for at least one more ACHEMA edition before replacement.

Frequently asked

ACHEMA, answered.

Does our stand need formal construction approval?

Only if it's over 100m², taller than 4m, or two-storey — smaller, single-storey stands with no special features are exempt, but anything else goes through the Exhibitor Portal once it opens in autumn 2026.

Why does stand position affect the price so much?

ACHEMA prices by exposure: standard is €378/m², rising to €453.60/m² for one open side and €529.20/m² for a corner or island position with two or more sides open — position is a pricing decision as much as a design one.

Can we bring our own forklift for setup?

No — exhibitor-owned forklifts aren't permitted for safety reasons; only electric pallet trucks for ground-level moves, so anything heavier needs to go through Messe Frankfurt's official forklift service.

Exhibiting elsewhere too?
